Can You Pay a Discharged Debt After Bankruptcy?

Pay to the order of

People regularly ask to “not file” bankruptcy on a particular debt.

Examples include personal loans, medical bills or certain credit cards.

The answer is that you must list everyone you owe when your case is filed AND you may voluntarily repay any discharged debt.

The bankruptcy discharge eliminates your legal obligation to pay. Some people wish to repay a debt because it is owed to a family member, a family doctor or store where they do business.

Nobody wants to file for bankruptcy. Sometimes good people need the fresh start and peace of mind that Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 offer.

If your situation improves in the future then you can pay back any discharged debt. Your (former) creditors will be happy to accept the money and if they do not you can always give the money to Charity.
