Houston hosts Super Bowl 51 & Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives

Houston TexasThe eyes of America are going to be on Houston come February 5th for Super Bowl Fifty-One.

The Food Network couldn’t wait.  This week the Food Network is visiting Houston and filming an episode of the popular Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with host Guy Fieri.

While not the only food show to feature Houston’s great local restaurants, Triple-D has not filmed in Houston since 2009. The diversity of Houston’s restaurants is vast and Triple-D made stops which included Jamaican, Lebanese, and Mexican flavors.

It has been reported that visits included the following:

  • Cafe Lili, a Lebanese restaurant
  • Cool Runnings, a Jamaican restaurant
  • Cuchara
  • Irma’s Original
  • Q-Shi, a barbecue-sushi eatery
  • The Original Marini’s Empanada House

It should come as no surprise that once an episode airs the featured restaurants see an increase in customers.  You may need to prepare for a wait when you head to one of the restaurants Triple-D visited once the episode airs.  When the episode will air has not been released, so there is no time like the present to give them a try.  Fair warning to Houstonians and visitors for the Super Bowl, the lines are about to get longer.

Guy Fieri is not the only television host in search of a great meal to visit Houston and feature some of its diverse culinary offerings. CNN’s Anthony Bourdain visited Houston to film for his show “Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown”.  The episode aired in October 2016.

Triple-D’s host Guy Fieri will return to Houston to host “The Players Tailgate Party” before the Super Bowl on February 5th.
